When Words Become Worship

Poetry and song are among the purest expressions of worship. From Moses’ song of deliverance (Exodus 15:1) to David’s psalms of praise (Psalm 150:6), God’s people have always used words and melody to glorify Him. This page gathers poems and songs inspired by Scripture and personal testimony — offerings of the heart that declare the goodness of Jesus Christ.

There are moments when the heart cannot find enough words to thank God for what He has done. In those moments, language begins to sing. Poetry and song are born from that place, not from performance or talent, but from gratitude and awe. They are the overflow of a soul that has seen grace up close.

Throughout Scripture, God’s people expressed their faith through song and verse. When the Lord parted the Red Sea, “Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: ‘I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted’” (Exodus 15:1). King David poured out his heart in psalms that have comforted believers for generations, declaring, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want” (Psalm 23:1). When Mary heard the angel’s words, she responded in poetic praise, saying, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:46-47).

From beginning to end, the Bible reveals that worship is not confined to a temple or a melody. It is the response of a redeemed heart. The Word Himself, Jesus Christ, became the living song of salvation, fulfilling what was written: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14).

Every believer has their own melody and message. Some write it down. Others hum it quietly in prayer. This page exists to gather those voices; the poems and songs that have grown out of Scripture, repentance, healing and hope. Each piece is an offering, reminding us that creativity is not separate from worship; it is part of it, for “whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17).

Here you will find original works written from my own journey, alongside poems and songs from others who share a love for Jesus and His Word. You will find honesty, joy, sorrow, faith and doubt, all woven through with the truth that God redeems every part of our story.

If the Spirit has placed a poem or song within you, consider sharing it here. Words spoken in love and humility can reach further than we imagine, for “the word of God is living and active” (Hebrews 4:12). Together we lift up a chorus of faith that echoes what David once wrote: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).

May these words and melodies draw you closer to the One who gave them.

If the Lord has placed a poem or song within you, we invite you to share it here. Let your words be a light that points to Him, for “out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). Together, may our voices rise as one to glorify Jesus Christ.
